LOCAL PHILANTHROPISTS HONORED DURING NATIONAL DAY TO CELEBRATE CHARITABLE GIVING

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, Ozarks chapter, has announced this year's recipients of the National Philanthropy Day Awards for the Springfield and Ozarks region. The following will be recognized at the National Philanthropy Day Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, November 21, 2008 at Highland Springs Country Club at 11:30 a.m.:

Outstanding Philanthropist of the Year: Nancy Brown
Outstanding Corporation of the Year: Michael Replogle - Chase USA
Outstanding Small Business of the Year: Jim Morris - American Detection Specialist
Outstanding Philanthropic Organization of the Year: Bart Brown - Ozark Food Harvest
Outstanding Media Organization of the Year: Rick McCoy – Mid-West Family Broadcasting
Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year: Norb and Ann Bagley
Outstanding Youths in Philanthropy of the Year: Josh Snowden and Andrew Keaster
Outstanding Fundraising Executive of the Year: Bart Brown - Ozark Food Harvest

Nominations for the awards were taken and reviewed by a panel of local community members and a committee of the AFP Ozarks Chapter. Nominees must meet specific criteria for charitable giving, community involvement, personal investment in philanthropy as exhibited through volunteer efforts, service and commitment to improving our community through charitable efforts. National Philanthropy Day is celebrated across the country in an effort to bring awareness to the cause of philanthropy and its impact on local communities as well as to strengthen volunteerism.

The mission of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is to foster the development and growth of fundraising professionals and the profession, to preserve and enhance philanthropy and volunteerism and to promote high ethical standards in the fundraising profession.
